Coastal Residence, Oakura

This unbuilt project was for a spectacular elevated coastal site with 200 degree views. The design responds to prevailing westerly winds, by forming a sheltered outdoor easterly space, with extensive glazing. Accentuated horizontal lines were punctuated by vertical solid wall elements, which anchor the house to the site. The client’s brief was for the main lounge area to overhang the site giving a dramatic relationship to the views up and down the coast.
